Computer Applications in Pre-school Education
The uses of computer and information technology in pre-school education can be
summarized in 3 main categories:
 | School Administration |
 | Teaching Resources Management |
 | Computer Awareness courses and computer aided learning |
The Kindergarten's uses of computer and information technology in these 3 main areas

The Computer Application Group headed by the Principal was established to run and
maintain the self-developed software 'Kindergarten Management System' which is a data
based system to manage students as well as teaching staff data.
As for students, it manages and maintains students and their families personal data,
student enrollment, different types of charges and fees, students' school reports, and
students' special events such as sick leaves, absences and other special records. As
for staff, it manages and maintains records of staff and their families personal data,
staff resumes, payrolls, salaries histories, contribution funds and records of special
events. Computer enhances the efficiency of school administration and helps to store
and retrieve data more conveniently and accurately.

The Kindergarten is now compiling a teaching resource data base that
consists of different teaching materials, teaching equipment, student exercises, bulletin
board design, objective teaching activities and other related teaching resources.
Upon completion of the compilation, the Kindergarten intends to upload the database to our
own website so that it can be used as references among kindergartens of both local and
overseas. We believe this will promote the standard of pre-school education and lead
to a more innovative development in pre-school education. |

The widely uses of computer and information technology is an inevitable trend in 21st
century. Knowing the importance of computer awareness of students at an early stage,
we have included 'Computer Awareness' courses as a regular curriculum of the Kindergarten
in 1999.
The courses are designed and compiled by our Computer Courses Development Group headed by
the deputy head teacher and supervised by the Principal. Students will take a
30-minute class per week and their learning results will be recorded in their school
reports. Besides, our students will also play and learn through simulated computer
games and educational softwares to increase their familiarization of uses of computer. |
